3 Sci-Fi Universes That Inspired The Seven Systems

No writer creates in a vacuum. Every worldbuilder draws on the stories that made them fall in love with storytelling in the first place. For me, three universes stand out as major influences on The Seven Systems.
Star Wars – Myth, Legacy, and Tragedy
The Prequel Trilogy sparked my love for grand, mythic storytelling. The large scale battles of the Clone Wars, with the shadowy politics behind it, gripped me from the very beginning. Star Wars was my introduction into tragedy and loss, watching towering figures be reduced to shadows of themselves. In the Seven Systems, I wanted to play upon the same themes and ideas but even further.
Blackops III – Gadgets and Tech in a Futuristic Setting
From the moment I first turned on Black Ops III, I was immediately drawn in by the sleek design and abilities of the game. Jetpacks, invisibility, x-ray vision, nanobots, robots, and HUD details. All these things flooded my imagination watching them interact with each other. In designing the Seven Systems, I was constantly thinking and refining how all my own technology would function while also maintaining the 'cool factor.'
Marvel - The Little Details in a Small World
All through the Infinity Saga, I followed Marvel like a detective. Every new character and world I studied to the nth degree, hunting down every easter egg that would be pivotal in the broader picture. It was a game to me, and immense fun. While creating the Seven Systems, I intentionally scattered nuggets of information through the story so people could have just as much fun digging deeper in my world just as I did with Marvel's.
All of these stories gave me pieces of what I wanted to see in a sci-fi epic. But The Seven Systems? That’s me. My voice. My questions. My answers.
If you’re a fan of any of those franchises—or just love space epics that respect your intelligence—you’ll feel at home in this universe.
